Chantix and
Breastfeeding
Chantix is fairly new to
the marketplace. As a result, all of the relevant testing
involving the product has yet to be fully undertaken and
completed. In other words, when it comes to using Chantix under
different circumstances, the jury is still out. As will be
discussed in the greater detail shortly, if you are interested
in using Chantix and have questions about the
drug, you need to consult with your doctor.
You may be interested in stopping smoking.
If that is the case, you may also be taking a look at using
Chantix as a means of assisting you towards your goal of
smoking cessation. If you have a young child that you are
breast feeding, the quest to stop smoking particularly is
laudable. With this in mind, you may be wondering whether or
not Chantix is the proper choice for you when it comes to an
aid to smoking cessation that safely can be used when you are
breastfeeding.
The reality is that the effects of using
Chantix while breastfeeding are yet to be
determined. The Mayo Clinic, which is one of the premier
research hospitals in all of the United States – indeed, in all
of the world – have indicated that while efforts are underway
to ascertain the propriety and safety of using Chantix while
breastfeeding, no definitive research has been undertaken in
regard to this issue. However, the Mayo Clinic and other
similarly situated institutions and centers have indicated that
more substantive information in regard to breastfeeding and the
use of Chantix should be available to consumers in the not too
distant future.
Early indications suggest that the use of
Chantix while breastfeeding may be acceptable. As of this
moment, there is no final decision in this regard – but, there
is yet no evidence that the use of Chantix is
harmful. However, nothing in this article should be
construed as being any sort of recommendation to utilize
Chantix when breastfeeding. This article has been prepared for
informational purposes only and is not designed or intended to
take the place of a face to face consultation with a doctor
regarding the use of Chantix if you are breastfeeding.
If you are breastfeeding and if you are
interested in using Chantix to stop smoking, you need to
consult with your doctor. Your doctor can make recommendations
about whether or not Chantix is a suitable drug for you to use
while you are in fact breastfeeding a baby.
On a related note, if you are pregnant, you
need to consult closely with your doctor to determine if
Chantix should be used as part of your stop smoking regimen. As
with breastfeeding, there simply is not enough
research data at this juncture to illuminate the propriety of
utilizing Chantix while pregnant. Additionally, doctors are
providing a cautionary note regarding the use of Chantix if you
are contemplating getting pregnant. As in the case of
breastfeeding and pregnancy itself, there is not any
substantial information and research pertaining to the
propriety of using Chantix if you are a woman who is
contemplating getting pregnant.
